My Sustained Investigation is about diving into the qualities that humans and animals share. Specifically animals' movement and the human ability to mimic that movement in performance. My purpose is to liken animals to humans to debunk humankind's belief that we are superior beings on Earth, and show we are much more like animals than we care to admit.
Rat Nouveau (69"/12"/39")
A rat scurries through the nooks and crannies of the busy streets. Alongside them scurry the people, darting between each other in their mad, squirreling rush to reach their destination.
Jumping (4"/3"/5")
Frogs jump quickly and decisively, just as people do to conclusions and opportunities.
Heron: the hunt and flight (28"/36"/12")
Herons poke their beaks in and out of the water searching for food. This resembles the human behavior to often dive head first into something, blindly, to achieve their goals. A heron's flight, its wings spread wide, echos the internal flight of humans, becoming independent upon accomplishing their blind ventures.
